With job fairs being organised in over 200 European cities, this year’s Job Days are expected to attract over 150 000 job seekers and potential employers. The event is a unique opportunity to meet businesses and to access the 1 million jobs made available on-line by EURES, the European Job Mobility Portal. Through its network of 800 advisors, the portal helps EU workers and their families by offering guidance and advice on job opportunities and living and working conditions in the European Economic Area.
The principle of the European Job Days is to enable direct contact between employers and job seekers in order to support the recruitment process and offer opportunities for working in other EU countries. Several thousand vacancies were filled during the 2006 event. In addition to meeting people directly, the Job Days offer hundreds of other events and initiatives such as open door days in public employment services, workshops, information points and cultural events.
The Brussels Job Day will take place on 29 September in the Berlaymont, the main commission building.
