For more than a decade, Tanzania has hosted Africa's largest population of refugees, most of them displaced by years of conflict in Burundi and the Congo.
Some of them, Congolese living in camps in northern Tanzania, have illustrated their experiences in paintings, which will now be exhibited by the local EU office.
The exhibition, to be opened on 26 March at a celebration marking the EU's 50th birthday, will also spotlight the EU's commitment to refugee care and support through its humanitarian aid office. The paintings will be displayed alongside images of European refugees after the Second World War, to commemorate the beginnings of European reconstruction.
