Comic strip history to mark EU birthday

Belgian and French comic strips reveal a long tradition of graphic and narrative art.

Considered by many as serious art, comic strips and cartoons represent vivid and creative forms of artistic expression. An exhibition is to be organised in Hanoi by L’Espace (the representative office of the Belgian French-speaking community to Vietnam, the "Wallonia-Brussels delegation") to explore a brief history of French and Belgian comic strips.

The exhibition will display the work of Vietnamese artists Ta Huy Long and Pham Huy Thong, highlighting their creative techniques and the vitality of Vietnamese cartoons. Belgian artist Eddy Coubeaux will also present the work he has had published in Vietnam.

Comic strips will also be displayed in L’Espace’s multimedia library, from March 20.
