To celebrate the EU's 50th birthday in Chile, a conference will be held on March 26 in Santiago's Catholic University on the importance of memory in the context of European integration.

The main speaker will be Mr. Joachim Gauck, one-time Federal Commissioner for State Security Files in the former German Democratic Republic and now Director of the German association “Against Oblivion - For Democracy”. Mr. Gauck will lecture on the role of historical memory in the German reunification process, and its impact on European integration.

Jaime Pérez Vidal, EC Q;bqssqdor, will lecture on the importance of the Treaty of Rome and the successes and challenges for European integration over the past 50 years.
