Mexico – celebrates with academic excellence

The EU's 50th will be feted by a series of seminars on European integration at different academic venues in Mexico City and Xalapa (Veracruz).

Mexico City
22 March at the Centro de Estudios Europeos – UNAM
4th Interuniversity meeting of European integration studies: a two-day seminar with roundtable discussions on:

  • The EU 50 years after the signature of the Treaty of Rome: Achievements and results.
  • The EU 50 years after the signature of the Treaty of Rome: challenges and opportunities
  • The EU and Latin America: the achievements of cooperation.
  • The relationship between the EU and Mexico within the framework of the Free Trade Agreement.
  • The EU: Emerging power in the 21st century.


26 March at the Instituto Tecnológico autónomo de México (ITAM)
"The meaning of the Treaty of Rome on its fiftieth year” - guest speaker Dr Paul Demaret, Rector of the College of Europe. Roundtable followed by questions and comments from the audience.

In the evening, there will be a cocktail to inaugurate the events, offered by the head of the EU mission in Mexico. High officials and ambassadors will be invited.

28 March at FES-ACATLÁN UNAM
“The 50th Anniversary of the Treaty of Rome” - guest speaker Dr Paul Demaret, Rector of the College of Europe. Roundtable followed by questions and comments from the academic and student community.
