To mark the 50th anniversary of the Treaty of Rome, the Senate Official Information Office will organise a number of events in cooperation with the Senate Library reconstructing the debate in Italy on the origin, evolution and the enlargement of the European Union.
Replicas of Italian newspapers of the time from the collection of the "Giovanni Spadolini" Senate Library will be posted in the Bookshop, to illustrate the development of the European Union, including Senate debates on bills ratifying European Treaties.
Throughout the duration of the event, schoolchildren visiting the Bookshop will be involved in educational activities focused on the knowledge of Europe and the role of national Parliaments in European matters.
Senate staff will distribute complimentary information leaflets and help visitors use multimedia reference material.
