Jean Monnet International Summer Seminar

The Jean Monnet International Summer Seminar “Integrating Europe in a Changing World” is a two-week intensive seminar aimed at improving students’ and young professionals’ knowledge of the EU through innovative teaching.

The seminar is organised by the Jean Monnet Chair in European Political Integration of the University of Rome “Tor Vergata”. The event will be held in addition to two additional seminars in Bozen and Rome.

The EU decision-making process, negotiations and lobbying in the EU will be the main issues analysed during the event.

Roundtables with practitioners, decision-makers, members of the European Parliament, EU officials and lobbyists will alternate with the lectures. The roundtable exercises will conclude with a simulation of the co-decision process.

The seminar will explain, in a practical way, the complex functioning of the EU decision-making procedures under Pillar I and highlight how this process can be influenced both by internal and external actors.

Held by well known international speakers, including diplomats, academicians, journalists andEU officials, the seminar is open to young women and men who have  shown excellent skills in their field of study/ work.

The courses are designed to match the interests of both graduate students (application of exceptionally skilled senior undergraduate will be considered on an individual basis) and young professionals who wish to improve their knowledge of the EU.

Courses are particularly appropriate for officials dealing with EU affairs in their national, regional or local administrations or who work as diplomats, journalists and teachers. Those working for NGOs could also find the event of interest.
