Human rights – an EU success story?

What should the EU require from the new Member States with regard to the respect and protection of human rights? What effect have the EU's efforts to combat terrorism had on the protection of human rights? Does the EU need a new fundamental human rights policy?

The fourth of a series of nine lunchtime debates that the European Parliament's Information Office in Sweden is organising, together with the Swedish Riksdag on EU issues close the hearts of Europeans will take place under the theme of "50 years of EU cooperation".

The lunchtime debates are all taking place in The Democracy Workshop, Västerlånggatan 1 in Stockholm, from 11.30 hrs to 13.00 hrs.

 You can register at EU50@riksdagen.se. For the debate on 30 March, this must be done in advance by no later than 29 March 2007. A sandwich will be served to everyone who has registered in time for the debate.
