50 Years of the European Treaties: Looking Back and Thinking Forward

The Liverpool Law School is celebrating the 50th anniversary of the signing of the Treaty of Rome with a major conference: "50 Years of the European Treaties: Looking Back and Thinking Forward".  This conference aims to reflect critically upon some of the EU’s core characteristics and achievements, as well as think imaginatively about the diverse challenges facing the EU for the future.

Speakers will include prominent EU lawyers such as Alan Dashwood (Cambridge), Paul Craig (Oxford) and Jo Shaw (Edinburgh) - as well as Eleanor Sharpston, the British Advocate General at the European Court of Justice in Luxembourg.  There will also be contributions from other disciplines on topics such as EU governance (Lee Miles, Liverpool), monetary union (Jim Rollo, Sussex) and energy security (Peter Cameron, Dundee).
