20th Anniversary of ERASMUSYoung people
Different celebrations will take part in the 20th Anniversary of ERASMUS, involving former and current students and decision-makers in the area of education. The European founded ERASMUS exchange programme allows students to study in another European country for a period of between 3 and 12 months. It gives students experiences from different cultures and they return home with fresh knowledge, improved language skills and memories for life. ERASMUS is encouraging transnational cooperation between universities, boosting European mobility and improving the transparency and full academic recognition of studies and qualifications throughout the Union. Since the creation of ERASMUS in 1987, 1.2 million students have benefited of an ERASMUS study period abroad. Currently 2199 higher education institutions in 31 countries are participating. Different celebrations will take part in the 20th Anniversary. January 18Opening Conference in Brussels organised by the Erasmus Student Network. April-MayERASMUS Days – Local events such as conferences will be organised in different countries. An ERASMUS van with volunteers will depart from the Annual General Meeting held in Prague (23-26 March) and travel through Europe to promote ERASMUS.
