Scientific Forum – 'From safe food to healthy diets' and the European Food Safety Summit

The two-day scientific forum will give scientists and other interested parties from the EU and beyond the chance to debate issues within EFSA’s remit including nanotechnology, animal cloning, chemical and microbiological risks and nutrition.

          Including:

  • Welcome and introduction by Catherine Geslain-Lanéelle, EFSA Executive Director
  • Keynote addresses by the European Parliament and European Commission

15.00 - 17.00  Major challenges in food safety

  • Real and perceived risks from food-borne animal infections
    Including: Campylobacter and BSE  
  • Chemicals as friends and foes
    Including: dioxins and PCBs, pesticides, food additives and food contact materials  
  • Do healthy diets exist?
    Including: nutrition and health, Population Reference Intakes for nutrients, safe upper limits
