Launch of the European Dance CompanyOfficial LaunchDance
The official launch of the European Dance Company on 4 April at St James Cavalier in Malta was timed to coincide with the celebration of the 50th anniversary of the signing of the Treaty of Rome. Speeches made by the participants will be followed by a Q&A session involving guests and the media. The European Dance Company will be an independent dance company representing European ideals worldwide. Young people from across the EU will be chosen to form part of this gathering of European talent. They will work on a repertoire that expresses the legacy and traditions of dance in Europe and the European spirit of dance… a new concept which signifies the spreading of European ideals through movement. The involvement of the Minister for Culture and Tourism of Malta, as well as representatives from the European Parliament, the European Parliament Information Office (Malta) and the European Commission (Malta) gives the event a dimension truly representative of European bodies coming together to foster culture in Europe. Launch Programm: Welcome address by the President of the European Dance Company, Mr. Felix Busuttil Address by the Hon Dr Francis Zammit Dimech M.P., Minister for Tourism Address by Dr Simon Busuttil, M.E.P. Address by Mr Julian Vassallo, Head, European Parliament Information Office, Malta Address by Dr Joanna Drake, Head of the European Commission Representation in Malta. Concluding remarks will be made by the President of the European Dance Company, Mr. Felix Busuttil The event is being coordinated by Mr Mark A Borg, Chair of the EDC’s Executive Committee and Mr Karl J Tabone, Vice-President of the Foundation. |
