Over four months, Europalia will highlight the cultural diversity of the 27 EU countries through music, theatre, dance, film and literature. Top artworks will be presented in Brussels, the whole of Belgium and in neighbouring countries.
The festival Europalia, organised every second year, will in 2007 be dedicated to the art and culture of Europe to celebrate the 50th Anniversary of the EU. Over four months, Europalia will highlight the cultural diversity of the 27 countries through dozens of events with music, theatre, dance, film and literature. Art history as well as contemporary European culture will be displayed in exhibitions and events. The festival is organised in collaboration with the 27 Member States and the aim is to discover European cultural links as well as to learn what makes each of the countries in the Union unique. 27 contemporary European artists will present their hit parade of European art history in a film installation. 27 young Europeans will show what European art in the future could look like in an artists’ trail.
