The assembly will gather at the prestigious Auditorium Conciliazione, where a special ceremony will also take place. The initiative has been promoted by the Region of Lazio, where Rome is located, and will represent an opportunity to raise awareness of the reality and diversity of the regional or territorial dimension of the European project.
A political “Declaration of the cities and regions for Europe” will be adopted at the ceremony. It will highlight the major themes and objectives which the public and local/regional authorities see as priorities, as well as the means of achieving them. The declaration will be sent to the Informal European Council, a gathering of the Heads of State and Government, which meets in Berlin on 25 March 2007.
The ceremony will be attended by the President of the Italian Republic, Giorgio Napolitano, as well as by other Italian politicians and representatives of the European institutions and national governments.
Who will take part?
The event will be attended by the 344 members of the Committee of the Regions, composed of representatives of Europe’s regional and local authorities, as well as by Italian politicians and representatives of the European institutions and national governments.
